Short, concrete description of his combat feat or merits:
During the combat operations conducted near the village of Kirikyulla between March 1 and 29, 1944, acting on orders from the 173rd Independent Reconnaissance Company, he ensured that the messenger communications system with the company’s operational reconnaissance parties was running smoothly. Despite heavy enemy artillery and mortar fire he delivered military messages to the division’s Reconnaissance Section.
On March 26, 1944, as he was escorting the company commander to our combat formations during an enemy counteroffensive, he was caught under enemy artillery fire, as a result of which the company commander, Lieutenant Mingazov, was wounded. He provided first aid to him and despite the enemy shelling brought him to the aid station.
For his merit in combat during the fighting with the German occupiers comrade Kozlov deserves to be awarded the Medal for Combat Merit.
Commander of the 173rd Independent Reconnaissance Company
Senior Lieutenant [signed] /Nemets/
