Ciao gentlemen,

I'm waiting for mine, bought for 18 euros on "E". But... I can't find any doc on this very medal, identical to the merit medal for police, but with a green ribbon instead of blue. My two books about hungary don't state its existence. Any clue? Seller fantasy or genuine and baddly documented?

An original medal, indeed awarded to Border Guards personnel between 1952 and 1989 - at least according to Greg Collins, who is strong of a stunning collection of Hungarian decorations, cap badges and badges and who is an active member of a sister forum.

1952-1989. So there must be some variations...

But I'm stupid. My hungarian book is about military orders and medals... Border gaurds are relevants of the State sécurirty or Interior Minister... so another book!

It's always the same with me, when I am checking something concerning Soviet Border Troops or Internal Troops in Army sources and get mad because I don't find anything..remembering myself (too late) that I would need some VZK/GPU/KGB or NKVD/MVD sources!

Luckily, when it comes to post 1955 military regulations for Soviet uniforms, Internal troops regulations are included in Army ones. That really helps.

Hope you'll be soon able to find some info on this medal!
