Guys, I didn't know this medal, what do you think of it?

Common and standard hungarian fabric, maybe a new piece found in the Mint stocks. Interesting thing: the mintmark (unknown for me).

Nice one!

This is an Hungarian medal commemorating the volunteers who joined the Republicans in the Civil War as part of the International Brigades.

Both the style of the suspension (Austro-Hungarian) and the tricolour clearly indicated the Hungarian nature of the medal. I saw this one before, but always remembered better the "Zalka Mate Medal", named after a Hungarian communist who fought both in the Russian and Spanish Civil War (in the latter one, he commanded the XII International Brigade and then the 45th Division).

Note that in the shield representing the colour of the Hungarian tricolour in the lower part of the medal there is no hammer crossed with a sheaf of wheat, coat of arms of the Hungarian People's Republic and until 1956 displayed in the centre of the national tricolour. This is because in 1947, Hungary was still not a socialist state, which it fully became only in 1949, with the foundation of the Hungarian People's Republic itself.
