Military group
Military group
Coming soon, with better pictures! Common medals, but I was the only one to jump on it. THis is a cool aspect of ebay.com and collecting really specialized things: you let the US collectors fight for a KGB copy and you grab the interesting remains.
Sold as a complete group. It is of course impossible to be sure that the medals really belonged to the guy and so are connected to teh papers. But these long service medals are common, the interest resides in the group as a whole.
This is a common grouping for a cold war 1980ies officer. The hungarian medals are comparable in quality to the DDR ones. The epoxy enamels aren't nicer, but seem a bit more strong and not sensitive to the hot ambiant temperatures or fringerprints!
The design remains exotic, and let's not forget the old austro-hungarian ribon style!

Re: Military group
It's ever good to see medals pf the Warsaw pact. Hungary it's an underraten nation that can give many surprise. A group it's ever a great goal to reach, it's really impressive for an exposition....I hope that you can find a nice photo of this soldier.
Hungary medals have a retrò style...so austro-hungarian...
DDR, Romania or Albany or Bulgary have copied the soviet style but Poland, Hungary, Czechoslowakia and Yugo have a style full of tradition...
Good work

I agree! Not a bad policy at allkomsomol ha scritto:THis is a cool aspect of ebay.com and collecting really specialized things: you let the US collectors fight for a KGB copy and you grab the interesting remains.
I like these medals a lot: even if they are not rare, I find them stylish, with a nice recall to the hungarian national tradition, as Kaiser Franz said.

Group received!
Re: Military group
I forgot to add this:
Distinguished labor medal, and a post-communist and last award.

Re: Military group
The 1994 post-socialist medal is very interesting (with that I mean that I find it always interesting to see a decorated officer of the socialist period receive a medal in the post-socialist period and understand how the new authorities were going about these awarding practices).
What was that for? An anniversary, long-service or retirement award?

Re: Military group
Long service. The translator is totally lost with this kind of langage... could be a Service cross, 1st class.
Re: Military group
Very nice Hungarian grouping. I was not able to see all the dates on the award documents, what was his service time period? Thanks.
I also have a Hungarian grouping in my private collection and added it to one of the chapters in STASI Volume III
