Alvarez, do not let the medal, maybe try to get a discount, it has a nice low serial number, and with patience, you can then think about replacing the suspension in the future.

I am not so critical about this suspension, what are the elements that make you thinking it is a fake? My impression is that the protrusion that receives the connecting ring was damaged and repaired, which modified it to a more triangular shape. I see some change of color in that area, maybe there are traces of soldering. It would be nice to have macro photos of that detail, if possible.

Yes. Thank you for magnifying the area. It seems that this part was damaged at some point, maybe just badly bent, and then repaired. It is also possible that the screwpost was damaged as well, and replaced. I agree with filo that it looks younger than the medal.
In general, I like the suspension and in particular the way it connects to the medal. The uncut suspension ring does not seem (to me) having a recent soldering, and it is torn as often seen on T1 variations.

Thank you for your opinion and interest in clarifying the authenticity of the medal, I really appreciate your help.

Although there is no unanimity about the originality of the suspension, it seems clear that neither the screwplate nor the plate stops ribbon nor the small hexagonal nut are original.

My intention is to take a single courage medal of type 1 variant 3 with all original components, so I am not interested in having it to replace the suspension in the future. I also do not want to remove the tape to avoid problems of return.

It was not a cheap medal and is a trusted seller so I will try to return it.

Beh, ripeto che io per le sospensioni T1 non sono mai stato un asso, quindi i miei giudizi lasciano il tempo che trovano. In generale trovo che siano tutte piuttosto irregolari e rifinite in maniera più' o meno approssimata a seconda dello zelo dell'operaio che l'ha lavorata. L'unica cosa che da subito non mi convince e' il dado esagonale, al resto darei una chance.

But there are two Kovalkov Vladimir Mihailovich decorated with a medal for courage . Even the assignment date does not help much. The medal for military merits that the Belarussian Kovalko class 1904 is not shown on the booklet. It could therefore be the younger one, the Kovalko class 1925, but I'm not sure.

Courage medal type 1 variant 3, seral number 86.303 awarded to Sergeant Fedor Semyonovich Kudryavtsev in 05.02.1943 in Moscow. Fedor was born in 1897 in Zaberejye (Smolensk Oblast) and served as commander of pioneer platoon detachment, 879th rifle regiment of 158th rifle division.

Brief description of the merits:
"During the combat actions of the regiment against the German invaders proved to be a brave and courageous commander. On 5 of March 1942 during
liberation of Jiganovo village (M.Tudsky district of Smolensk region) comrade Kudryavtsen under the strong enemy fire replaced the outlived commander and himself led the platoon into battle.

During the combat action of regiment since 20 of February 1942 he repeatedly performed orders of Command for engineering work on the front line under enemy fire.

3rd of June 1942 comrade Kudryavtsev under strong enemy fire in short time mine the front line near Seltso-Dobroye village (M.Tudsky district of Smolensk region).

Worthy to be awarded by state award Courage medal."
