The medals posted by Marc are true originals, IMHO.

This was clearly Rocket , I mean to say that the first photo is a classic Kiev, and the second image is of a Kiev error.

On the contrary, obverses seem almost identical, besides some differences possibly due to the brightness of Mark's Kiev.

The second image is a true Vienna, IMHO

Si hai ragione non avevo visto il colore del nastriino...
ecco altri due errori, e il fuori asse della medagli con l'anello è sempre presente.

Indeed, both medals are true ones: Defense of Kiev and Capture of Vienna.

Now, let's stop for a second and think. Why did I purposefully post these medals, and not pictures of the mule?
If that medal is a genuine mint error, it means that a worker there paired two existing dies that should not be used together. If so, both obverse and reverse must be IDENTICAL to the Kiev and Vienna medals coined at that time. If not, then someone will have to explain to me how coining dies can show differences in details when they are paired with a another, unintended die

If there are differences, this means that new dies were produced, a rather time consuming and labor intensive task. Wouldn't that sound somewhat strange for a supposed error?

These so-called "errors" are fakes that were created specifically for collectors
As far as I know they were made by mint people, on Moscow mint machinery somewhere around 1993.
