Distintivi da Pilota Cosmonauta
Re: Distintivi da Pilota Cosmonauta
I am certainly not an expert on badges, but years ago I had a chance to examine the variation presented by Sergio (mintmarked) and I do believe that they were made by the Soviet mint. I have never seen one with genuine traces of wear, so I assume that after the break up of the country these badges were sold to collectors. I believe a set was in the $100-150 range.

Alexei are you sure about the value? I never see a genuine complete set on the market.

is peculiar to see the prices of thousands of dollars of these badges on the catalog of AversNota_Bene ha scritto:I believe I used to sell them for about this price.Regaleco ha scritto:Alexei are you sure about the value? I never see a genuine complete set on the market.

Thanks also, as always, to Alexei!

Guys,
A couple of remarks about this discussion:
. Avers has never been a reliable pricing source (at least as far as I am concerned)
. About 1993, a whole lot of "things" were re-made by the mint (medals, badges). I wouldn't be surprised if most of these badges were of that vintage, and not from an earlier period.
. Seeing high prices at auction does not necessarily mean that:
- all badges of this type are worth as much (see second remark above)
- it is impossible to find originals, which ARE worth the price asked
Now, the main problem I (and, I guess, most other collectors) have, is that we have no known reliable standard - an unquestionable original piece - to compare these with.

Re: Distintivi da Pilota Cosmonauta
I do not know these badges however the Moscow Mintmark (with dotted around) is of the 80's.
Filo document indicates manufacturing "Victory" for initial badges.
I do not know what to think of these badges, but I always kept in mind that the cosmonauts were not many in the Soviet Union over parts available on the market .
Otherwise I agree with Mark for price of Avers

Re: Distintivi da Pilota Cosmonauta
thanks for coming on this thread, i agree with you gents, these badges are very rare and at the moment
i have not find one original high resolution picture for comparison, hope in the future i will find.
the only information found on the net talk about 3 variants:
the first variant with the numbers of the class in a small square and not a small shield
the second variant with the numbers of the classes in a small shield attached with rivets bent in the back of the badge
the third variant with the numbers of the classes in a small shield attached with cutted rivets ( my badges )
but I do not have a good photographic evidence confirming this theory
