Interesting and instructive! Were these orders actually awarded or rejected and removed from the circuit?
I would imagine they were distributed, otherwise the precious metal would have been recovered for new orders.

They were definitely awarded. Those that were considered to be defective at the mint were either repaired (in the case of bad enameling, for instance) or melted to reuse the precious metal.

Thank you for the confirmation, gentlemen. I see that the quality criteria were quite relaxed at that time... I wonder what damages or mistakes were necessary for an order to be rejected.
