It's number "8", a control mark. Strange spot to put it on, never seen under the serial number, but I agree with you, the order seems to be genuine.

Really crisp details, too crisp... the medal in itself is brand new, every thing is new like the mint mark and the serial number. Looks like a new engraving: the jaw, the rayed scarf...
