La mia esposizione Mongola.

Mi dispiace l'immagine povera.
Dubito che mai aggiunga a questo siccome questi prezzi sembrano di aumentare allo stesso tasso che i premi dei soviet, o ancora più in alto.
Sorry for the poor image.
I doubt I will ever add to this as these prices seem to increase at the same rate as the Soviet awards, or even higher.
All of these came from the immortal Alexei M. aka Nota Bene.

I always loved mongolian awards and wanted have some but... you know, one has to focus or he ends collecting everything.

So true! The last few years I have been good at keeping my focus on Soviet alone. But recently I broke down and bought something else. I will show it when it arrives.

Qui è molto meglio di una, seppur immagine molto più vecchi.Mi piace molto il mongoli premi come sembrano avere un aspetto e uno stile a loro.
Here's a much better, albeit much older image.
I really love Mongolian awards as they seem to have a look and style to them.

I Take advantage of you Eric to have some tech-specs about your scanner.
Since it is not common to have a hi-depth of field one may you please give us the brand and model of it.
I have one that have a good depth of field too and it is a old Epson Perfection.
By the way the medals and the orders are gorgeous!

Those images are well over 5 years old and the scanner is long gone. But, I do think it was an Epson if I recall correctly.
A good scanner is a great tool but I really enjoy photography so that, and desk-space are some of the reasons I am scannerless at the moment.
But, to print stuff I have to save it on a flash drive and then drive down to the local store to get my stuff printed.

Don't talk me about space

lately i was thinking to glue something on the ceiling to tidy up my studio.
By the way as a suggestion for those who as shaky hands or cannot afford or has not a passion for macro photography the scanner is a very good solution. It's cheap, can do big enlargements of shallow items (this includes madals and orders. Screwbacks are still a problem for the back.) and they do the color balance on their own (this is good to see the real color of gilts or enamels. Such a feature you cannot mimic with a camera if you don't profile it with a colorchecker or you set the K of the camera propely according to the light source).
I was doubtful when they suggested me the scanner but now 9 times out of 10 i leave my reflex on his bag and do it with the scanner.

I gave my recommendations about which scanner should be used for medals and others small objects elsewhere in this forum. As alternative I would invite all interested colleagues to check

That's very true. The image above was made by a scanner and is compares favorably with my best camera images.
A tip: to get the nice, black background leave the scanner lid/top open.
Also, as I recall, setting up the software correctly made images optimum.
If you do use a camera a tripod is a requirement.

I agree this is a quick and dirty tip for a black bg. And works pretty well if you ask me.
Switch off the room lights and leave the lid opened, refine the image in Photoshop Camera Raw working on Blacks/Shadows to make a uniform black background.
Done.

Ah! You are far away from mastering the technique... fingerprint smears and thick layers of dust are an essetial component of the watermark of the image

I spend hours on Photoshop removing the spots and the dots from the images because i don't want to spend 20 minutes to do a proper cleaning to the scanner

i'm a wise man!

Eric, i really like your orders. Also the medals are beautiful, serial handwrite and screwback nut mint marked! Top quality, as always with items from Alexey.

I do not. I wish I could but I don't have the money or time to do so.
Top quality, as always with items from Alexei.
I miss Alexei, I wish he was still around. If I had known he was going to stop selling I would have bought more from him.

I see that you have a good relationship with Alexei, why not invite him to join in the forum? Who knows, try does not harm ...
