or Znak «Uchastniku Khasanskikh boyov» in Russian
Decree of the Presidium of the Supreme Soviet of the USSR "On the perpetuation of the memory of Khasan heroes " from June 5, 1939 was established by the sign "Participant Khasan battles" . Resolution of the Council of People's Commissars of the USSR № 1173 approved the Regulations on the sign and its description .

Supremely beautiful! And I'd like to ask a question - the red flag on the badge shows the golden star, instead of the typical Soviet hammer and sickle. Why this interesting change of simbology?
At my knowledge the battle of Lake Khasan was fought only by Soviet troops..

Il 20 luglio 1938 l'ambasciatore giapponese a Mosca ha chiesto all'Unione Sovietica un territorio in Estremo Oriente, il Lago Khasan.
Il 29 luglio 1938 , le truppe giapponesi invasero il territorio sovietico.
Il 6 agosto , le truppe sovietiche con il 39' Corpo Fucilieri cancella dal suo territorio gli invasori giapponesi.
Il 9 agosto il governo giapponese ha chiesto all'URSS di fermare i combattimenti, e che il conflitto al Lago Khasan era terminato.
Il 5 giugno 1939 con il decreto del Presidium dell'URSS, alla vigilia della ricorrenza degli eventi del Lago di Khasan,
è stato istituito per celebrare i partecipanti ai combattimenti un badge commemorativo in bronzo e smalto.
Nel periodo dal 1939 al 1940 realizzato dalla zecca di Leningrado LMD ne sono stati prodotti 50.000 esemplari.

Che pezzo splendido Dom! E per giunta con il documento! Magnifique! Molto particolare anche la vite di fissaggio, penso unica nel suo genere. Forse si ritrova anche sul distintivo per la battaglia dell'istmo di Carelia, ma non ne ho mai visto uno originale!

Io ne ho visti altri, e avevano tutti lo screw back uguale al badge di Dom.

Here a portrait of Юрин Константин Иванович (Yuri Konstantin Ivanovich) veteran of the Khasan Battle and of the Great Patriotic War; you can clearly see the Khasan badge on his uniform (painting by: Убираева Л. Т., Ubiraeva L.T. [I think the author's full name is Убираева Людмила Тимофеевна, Ubiraeva Liudmila Timofeevna).

At the weekend I visit a very small military trade fair. I did not expect to find any soviet items there. But sometimes there are miracles.
Found this badge for Chasan on a table with german items.

Short History:
The underlying causes of the battle of lake Hasan could be traced back to the Japanese occupation of Manchuria in 1931.
That occupation resulted in large numbers of Japanese soldiers facing the Red Army in a part of the world where the border
was unmarked and poorly defined. Over 500 incidents involving the two forces took place along the border between 1932 and 1938.
