I was searching for some air force badge images tonight but I stumbled across these images of something I was really thrilled to get; a screw-post base ORS. It's a long story; I had always wanted a SCB ORS, found this on ebay one day for a great price, did some searching, got good advice and bought it. It then got lost in the mail for two weeks...oh, how scared I was. But it ended well so I will show it now.
I kind of wish we had a ORS thread here in the orders section as well as other orders, just to make it cleaner.

The choice to have a single thread per order is deliberate.
Maybe it is possible to group them in a dedicated subforum... i talk to my forum colleagues about it in the next meeting.

I understand the pain... one of my orders got lost few years ago and i have phoned every day for three month to the customs! The order is safe but it costed me like 20X his value in phone calls

I don't think so, just a bad image.

It really seems like the 5 o'clock arm has its enamel replaced.

It could be, my eyes aren't that good anymore so I'm just not sure.
If I ever get time I'll take some more photographs. But either way, it doesn't bother me.

Better pictures are definitely needed. I have the impression that both rays at 4 and 7 o'Clock have been touched. Could be that the photo is cheated by the light.

I don't think so. The 7 o'clock star point looks OK, at least from whee I am sitting Some better pictures wouldn't hurt.

You may be right. I enhanced another image of (I think) the same RS. There may be a repair made.

Può avere raggione. Ho accresciuto altra immagine di (penso) stesso RS. Ci può essere una riparazione fatta.
Se è una riparazione è una riparazione di buona qualità.

from the last picture, I can see an excess of enamel on the ray edge at 4 o'clock. The other ray (at 7 o'clock) looks neat and I agree with Alexei it is ok.
I concur in saying that the repair is well done, and the star in general is very nice: Good catch! Due to the Soviet's habit to wear their stars in combat, it is very common that old stars like this one required some renovation at the end of the war. Not all of them were of this quality: have you ever seen my screwbacks?

This definitely is not right.

I concur with Filo, the screwplate you showed is not the one going originally with the star.
