This is Order of the National Flag / Kukki Hunchang / 국기훈장
It was instituted on 12 October 1948 and awarded since for outstanding merit to both military and to civilians in the fields of politics, culture and the economy.

Please, could you post a photo of the reverse of the "central medal" (that one in the center of the case, with the DRPK coath of arms)...it seems to be used to link the chain and the Order, but I wonder how

Indeed this is a connecting medallion
