Oh, it is an old affair. A common friend, Philippe R. had won this medal at the auction of Jean Eiffel legacy. He bought for a few hundred euros Eiffels's Lenin prize and his Friendship amongst peoples. I tried to buy back the Friendship (with the specific box and thick leather booklet).

But all the stuff went at our big national Drouot auctionneer in Paris, ans the stuf gained one zero on the selling price, before leaving for Germany. I saw the stuff at Carsten Zeige in Hamburg. Then it went to Russia...

Jean Eiffel was a huge cartoonist in the 50-60ies. But no museum...

Wonderful topic with alot of new and interesting information [50 . Thanks to all for this important addition to the forum. Regrettably, I have the impression that I will never have one of these awards in my collection. Moreover, I am glad that the original design was at some point abandoned... I don't know why, but it looks just scaring to me

The Linus Pauling one?
This has to be a professional hand... can't say if it is a soviet one.

The writing is not well spaced, i agree, but it's not ugly.

By the way "Vacca sacra!" (=holy cow?!): I think it's "Porca Vacca" in italian (GC* please correct me if i'm wrong).
