Grazzie mille! I'll photograph it soon! The medal came from Alexei Merzhko, yeeeeears ago, when I felt the final tide of crazy prices was upcoming to the horizon... Since then, no more medals, only papers and some badges...

What an ensamble of great docs! Although I am not a collector of medals & docs I always very much appreciate some nice pieces of this sort. Fascinating document for the Excellent Fire-Fighter round badge. The badge's design is almost identical to the one of Yugoslav partisan "egg" cap badges..

Che ensamble di documenti! Anche se non sono un collezionista di medaglie e documenti apprezzo sempre moltissimo pezzi di questo tipo. Interessante documento per distintivo da Eccellente Pompiere. Il disegno del distintivo è quasi identico a quello di fregi "uovo" dei partigiani Yugoslavi..

Ciao a tutti. E' arrivata ieri e non perdo tempo nel postarla visto che siamo in tema di salvataggio ( http://www.rkka.it/forum/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=30012)
Pagata poco, c'era sempre la questione di foto scadenti che pero' concedevano qualche appiglio per giustificare un cauto ottimismo.
Ad averla fra le mani ed a giudicare dall'anello di giunzione ed altri dettagli direi che e' buona, il recto ed il verso erano invertiti.
Che ne pensate?

La sospensione non so dirti con certezza se sia regolare o meno, a sentir mondvor pare di no, sembra il tipo che vendono nei negozi per sostituzioni.

The suspension is not original, it is a commercial replacement.

The stamp of the medal seems to be original (please make an enlargement of the star, of the hammer and sickle, and of the crossed monkey wrenches), but given the appearance of the ring and the surfaces, I tend to think that this is one of the infamous 1993 strikes.

What's the infamous 1993 strike? What's happened?

1993: the Soviet Union had ceased to exist for close to 2 years.

However, almost the whole series of Soviet medals were (re)struck at the Mint using the original dies...

I remember with anger what happened in Russia in October 1993.
Tomorrow I'll try to take pictures that take away the doubt.

non sapevo niente della storia dei riconi con stampi originali, la faccenda è molto pericolosa allora!!!

In pratica non si puo' parlare di copie, ma di medaglie originali coniate successivamente.

Sapevo che era successo qualcosa nel 1993, in realtà' l'ho sempre associato con i riconi di Umalatova ma forse non si tratta dello stesso evento. Credo che la produzione post-URSS di decorazioni URSS meriterebbe un approfondimento, anche per permettere a noi collezionisti di avere qualche elemento per evitare spiacevoli equivoci. Esiste letteratura sull'argomento?

I knew that something happened in 1993, actually I was convinced they were the Umalatova's restrikes. Maybe it was something else.
I think that a discussion about post-USSR production of USSR awards would be extremely useful, also because it would give collectors the basic information to avoid bad mistakes. Does anybody know where more info might be available?

It seems to me that the topic of "post-Soviet Soviet medals" brings us back to a few insightful remarks that were made concerning the "mint error" Kiev-Capture of Vienna medal and the Pilot Cosmonaut badges, here and here.
