Buonasera a tutti.
Mio cugino di Trieste, collezionista anch'egli di materiale militare, mi ha chiesto informazioni riguardo l'oggetto in questione. Si tratta di un piastrino sovietico di forma ottagonale in alluminio, le misure sono 4 cm di lunghezza e larghezza, 1 mm di spessore; il foro che dovrebbe servire per infilare un cordino da fissare al collo ha il diametro di 4 mm ed è posizionato a 3 cm dalla base.
A parte l'iscrizione, se fosse militare è possibile collocarlo cronologicamente? Per lui può essere periodo bellico, io sono più propenso verso il periodo della guerra fredda.

As we know dog tags per se were not worn. However, the other disk was actually given to soldiers who were away from their unit and out of their military area for more than 12 hours.

Rocket, avevo letto che la forma ottagonale era stata adottata dopo la guerra patriottica, e che durante il conflitto il piastrino era un disco di latta sulla falsariga di quello inglese. Inoltre, le condizioni di quello da me postato sono a mio parere nuove per avere almeno 70 anni, e se ben ricordo l'alluminio era un materiale quasi interamente utilizzato per la produzione bellica, tanto che i piastrini erano realizzati in latta. Comunque è vero, il modello successivo era quello "rettangolare", tanto che la Russia attuale ne ha continuato l'utilizzo. Filo, grazie per il link!
Quindi posso annunciare che sono il fortunato proprietario di un set di piastrine russe e di una piastrina probabilmente bellica.

I am afraid that you are mixing up different things here.

The squarish tags shown by Plino, Rocketscientist and Filo are passes-out: they were given to soldiers that were given a temporary permission away from their unit. Upon returning to their base at the end of their permission, they had to surrender the tag which could then be given to another person. These were in no way linked to one specific individual, except for their period of actual issuance.

The oblong-shaped tags shown by Plino are pure fantasies that can readily be purchased in any voentorg (military supply shop, which are actually open to anybody). The one shown by Rocketscientist is a personal ID tag similar to those used in the armed forces of most countries.

During WW2, the Soviets used a small bakelite tube (about 3cm long) which contained a small piece of paper with the basic info of its holder (name, patronym, family name, DoB). as they had to be kept inside some "container" (pocket, bag, etc), they were very often lost, leaving their former owner's body unidentified.
