Good god! In the NKVD since 1922.. This man must have seen unspeakable things

It seems that during most of the war he was in the high echelons of the Syzran train station's management. The small town, strategically located between Ulyanovsk, (what became) Tolyatti and Samara. When war reached the Don and Stalingrad that little bit of the USSR, through which equipment, reinforcements and ammunitions must travelled round the clock, surely was of crucial importance..

Thank you, i didn't know that station had such importance!

I find it interesting how often he seemd to move location, travelling Eurasia and the republics.

A real man of mystery. He wears an Egg Distinguished NKVD or KGB badge along side an honoured railway worker badge too in his photos. I wish i had those!

A true USSRtrotter.. And you are right! From what I can see, it seems an NKVD (or MVD/MOOP) badge.
