Hello everyone,

Here is the Afghan version of the medal - Za Otvagu!

Not much info available about these medals on the internet (in any language that i can read anyway)

Instituted: 24 December 1980.
The medal was awarded for bravery on the battlefield to both Afghan and Soviet servicemen. Made of German silver. 37mm wide.

Fantastic to see one of these in such a high resolution and nice to know a forum associate owns it!

Rather crude reverse and no serial number. Would be interesting to understand wether this is an unissued medal or wether these really came with no individual serials.

This medal was never numbered, and this is its normal appearance.
It was the direct equivalent to the Soviet Bravery medal, which stopped being numbered toward the end of the 1950's.

The details on the original's obverse are real nice - and if fakers have not tried to improve on their early attempts yet, this medal at least seems to be rather safe for now.
