Rombi Accademia Militare di Livello Superiore (bianchi)
Military Academy Badges (white rombus)
Some more information about the white rombus military academy badges and wearing pieces / unofficial copy´s of these badges.
I have talked to an east german officer who was a graduate of a soviet military academy in the 1980´s near Moscow.
He said: Every graduate got an official made badge without shield (last version). But all graduates went to a local jewelery shop and bought a second home made / local made piece with shield (with inscription of the school name).
Here is an example of such a local made piece (wearing piece) and an awarded official piece. These two badges belong to a group to an east german officer.
Best regards
Andreas

Re: Military Academy Badges (white rombus)
A very interesting information that you provide Alfred.
Therefore the shielded badge is to be regarded as unofficial but not as a "fake" (modern reproduction created to cheat collectors). Am I right?

Re: Military Academy Badges (white rombus)
To clarify: There are badges out with and without shields, which were locally made by a jewelry maker (as a kind of wearing copy´s).
But the majority of these "unofficial" nmade badges you can see on ebay and other websides are just fakes! made to cheat collectors.
I think there is no way to proof, which of these not mint made badges are unofficial wearing copy´s and which are made by fakers.
I do not talk about the offical badges made by mint. Every graduate got one of these official badges ! when he finished school.
I only said: There was a possibility to buy a second or third badge from a local juwelry maker. which was not mint made.
best regards

Re: Military Academy Badges (white rombus)
Great info, thanks Andreas. Agree 100% that local-made pieces with shields were made at that time, and they were worn, and were tolerated officially. Hard to say currently which are legitimate and which are copies.Alfred ha scritto:Some more information about the white rhombus military academy badges and wearing pieces / unofficial copy´s of these badges.

.
Your first example is curious to me. I've not seen that faint star image on the reverse, nor that particular kind of wire pin attachment method (post 1940s). Are you willing to take that apart (unscrew it) and show the parts, please?
.
Il Suo primo esempio è curioso a me.
Grazie, Eric.
Re: Military Academy Badges (white rombus)
Will do pictures in the next days. The badge is a jewelry made one (not mint made), which gradutes could by in a local shop.

^ Grazie, grazie, grazie!!!!
.
I asked seller for them. She replies she will take some pictures for me. So we wait.
My biggest concern is the wear, or lack of detail, to the globe and wreath without similar wear on the rest of the badge.

Re: Military Academy Badges (white rombus) -
Questo venne oggi. Ho molti problemi trovando dettagli sulla scuola. VVMU. Nizza, presto, distintivo d'argento.
.
This came today. I am having much trouble finding specifics about the school. VVMU. I do know it's a higher, if not the highest, Naval School in the USSR. Nice, early, silver badge.

Re: Military Academy Badges (white rombus) -
Nice badge
We can call it "general" badge because there were not one, but several Highest Naval Schools in USSR (like this one
http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D7%E5%F0% ... C%EE%E2%E0, or this one http://ru.wikipedia.org/wiki/%D2%E8%F5% ... 8%F2%F3%F2, etc)
I am afraid it is impossible (without additional info about cavalier) to atribute such badges to this or that ВВМУ.

Indeed, this is a badge for Высшее Военно-Морское Училище (ВВМУ).Ericfg ha scritto: I am having much trouble finding specifics about the school. VVMU.
