[gruppo] a FDJ career

Hello, I present some medals, not too scarce, with their diplomas, not too scarce too. But together and belonging to a same person, this becomes a little bit less common.

PS: this is a first shot: light wasn't on my side and the pictures are ugly.

General overview: don't forget the average DDR citizen could be awarded ten times with diplomas, badges, medals, orders... It started with diplomas for sport at the lyceum.

Then our guy started with engagements within the FDJ, organising local events in its Bezirk, in the general context of bigger events and festivals organized by the FDJ central authorities.

From the left: medal for good performances in the initiatives of FDJ during the 9th congress of SED; good performances during the commemorations of the 60 years of October revolution.

From the left:the losange is dedicated to the 25th birthday of the republic, the activist for socialist work, the round medal for 25th yeras of the FDJ, and exceptionnal performances during the 1973 festival of youth and studients.

The common medal for the 40th anniversary of DDR, and the most prestigious medal of young activist.

These two medals are interesting by their uncommon suspensions: the forst is for joint activities between NVA and FDJ, the second between the GST (the german DOSAAF) and FDJ during the 25th anniversay jubilee.

General view of the diplomas covers: these medals are not exceptionnal, but their modernist design is funny. The sad thing is that I bought the paper group, adding the medals afterwards, but no FDJ membership booklet nor other civilian medals when the guy left the FDJ... Did he attended to an SED candidature? Were the 2 activist medals his only civilian and professionnal life awards?

Very nice group! I like my paper work complete and this is probably as close as one gets.

I saw this FDJ movie on youtube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmlT7HzELDY It's from 1950 but it show the FDJ in full meeting mood - in colour.
